This Texas-based alternative metal group has been around since 2000, but took the wise road to fame by taking a few good years to build a solid fanbase. After sufficient hometown shows and early tours, Flyleaf was headed for the big time, as evidenced by the 2005 release of their self-titled debut album on Octane Records. Singer Lacey Mosley shines as lead vocalist, an all-too-rare position for women in the world of metal. Her confessional lyrics wed perfectly with the raging, yet accessible, sound forged by guitarists Sameer Bhattacharya and Jared Hartmann and drummer James Culpepper.
