Freeport, IL – The Lindo Theatre will present the final film of its Hitchcock Suspense/Thriller Film Series on April 4. Cary Grant, the most suave-under-fire of all film stars stars in the 1959 film “North by Northwest.” Show times are at 1 and 7 PM at the Lindo Theatre, located at 115 S. Chicago Avenue in downtown Freeport. Co-sponsored by Highland Community College and Stephenson County Historical Society, movie admission is $5 and tickets are available at the Lindo box office.
Grant, playing successful New York ad exec Roger O. Thornhill, becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue and murder thru a case of mistaken identity. “North By Northwest” refers to Thornhill’s criss-cross of the country while attempting to prove his innocence to the police and evade an evil crime syndicate looking for a lost microfilm. Grant’s co-stars include Eva Marie Saint and James Mason.
Mark your calendars for the bonus movie, the 1937 musical “Maytime, starring Nelson Eddy, Jeanette MacDonald and John Barrymore, slated for Wednesday, April 25th at 1 and 7PM. Admission is complimentary to movie-goers who purchased tickets for the complete Hitchcock Suspense/Thriller Film Series or $5 at the door.
The series of Hitchcock Suspense/Thrillers, has been selected with the assistance of Dr. Ed Finch, executive director for the Freeport Historical Museum, and Alan Wenzel, the Speech and Communications instructor for Highland Community College. There will be a brief introduction before each movie and a discussion led by Ed Finch and Alan Wenzel following the movie.
Movie-goers are encouraged to stay after the movie to participate in this exchange.
