The Mexican American Cultural Center (MACC) will be hosting Flutter, opening September 12th with a reception scheduled for Friday, September 18th from 6 – 8 pm, and a gallery talk on Museum Day Sunday, September 20th from 3 – 4 pm. The exhibit will run through November 28th. Flutter is a new body of work by Connie Arismendi based on the exploration of healing through a contemporary perspective. Like the beating of the heart during times of great emotion or the flutter of butterfly wings, Arismendi has created three large scale installations that depict the emotional fluctuation between hope and anguish. This vision is intended to evoke feelings in the viewer that are traditionally associated with the altar or other spiritual spaces.
