The Arizona Cancer Center Clinic will host the second annual Flower Power event on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 6 p.m. The evening will include delicious food provided by Tucson Originals chefs, complimentary wine, a live and silent auction, and an exciting raffle.

Fifteen of Tucson’s best locally owned restaurants will be set throughout the beautiful Healing Garden on the grounds of the cancer center, where guests will sample a gastronomic selection of signature dishes. Participating restaurants include Jonathan’s Tucson Cork, Terra Cotta, Janos, Cup Café, and Acacia. While tasting and sipping, guests can browse the silent auction filled with trips, jewelry and other fantastic offerings.

The showcase of the evening is the live auction to be held in a tented “auction house.” Twenty pieces of original art created by some of the most well known artists in the region will go to the highest bidders. Participating artists include Barbara Gurwitz, Barbara Rogers, Diana Madaras, Sally Dryer, Maurice Sevigny, Emmie Whitehorse, and Sherri Belassen.

If you are holding a winning raffle ticket, you may take home one of the five fantastic prizes. First prize will be an after hours dinner for 10 at the new Pamela Laurence Collection store in La Encantada with a special menu by Albert Hall of Acacia, and very hard to obtain wines from the private collection of Don Luria and Donna Nordin. Other prizes include a culinary trip to Sarasota Florida with gift certificates to Sarasota Originals restaurants, a gift from Tiffany & Co, a private cocktail party for 30, and gift certificates to several Tucson Originals restaurants. Raffle tickets are $50.

Proceeds will be put toward completion of the Infusion Clinic at the Arizona Cancer Center Clinic. Since early 2007, the Arizona Cancer Center Clinic has provided patients with a full range of multidisciplinary outpatient oncology services and the latest in comprehensive, evidence-based care.

Tickets to Flower Power are $125 per person, a portion of which is tax-deductible. For more information, contact Wendy Andrews, Arizona Cancer Center Clinic, at (520) 694-9007 or wandrews@umcaz.edu
