Denver Urban Gardens (DUG), in partnership with Denver Parks & Recreation, presents Flourish!, a celebration of DUG’s 25th anniversary and the groundbreaking of its 100th community garden at Ruby Hill Park. The entire community is invited to this free celebration at Ruby Hill Park on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010, with activities including a morning groundbreaking ceremony at the garden site at 11 a.m., a local chefs’ competition from 12-2 p.m., followed by family picnics in the park, a ukulele lesson at 1 p.m. and a concert by Swallow Hill from 1:45-6 p.m. Families are encouraged to bike to Flourish! and pack picnics to enjoy together. Throughout the day, families will also have the opportunity to interact with hands-on garden and sustainably-themed activities.
