This week you get another chance to see the session that I put together for Flash on the Beach last year, taking you through how to build a simple realtime 3D engine:
The advent of the open-source PaperVision3D library has made realtime 3D rendering in Flash available to everyone.
But how exactly do 3D engines like PV3D work? Using simple code and tutorials that demonstrate each step, we'll build our own simple lightweight 3D engine to create a photo carousel, texture mapped shapes and particles.
You can then use this system to make your own 3D interfaces and games, and if you then move on to using a more complex 3D engine, you'll have a greater insight into what's going on under the hood.
