During the Flamenco Festival 2011, some of Spain’s most popular and up-and-coming flamenco stars fill Chicago with music, dance performances, and workshops. Taking place in many venues around the city, the festival celebrates this time-honored, Andalusian art. This year’s festival pays a special tribute to a legend that has left us, a singer who has made an extraordinary contribution to the world of flamenco: Enrique Morente. Morente brought an element of the divine to the art of flamenco and transformed it into a passionate experience for all five senses. Rest in peace, Maestro.
