FOUR DENVER NEIGHBORHOODS, STORIES, ARTISTS AND AND ARTS SHOWCASED IN AWARD-WINNING PROJECT

Denver, CO July 14, 2008: Five Two Eight O is an award-winning story, art and theatre project that brings to the stage stories told by Denver’s residents and interpreted, by Denver visual and performing artists. Four weekends in July and August will spotlight the Berkeley-Regis neighborhood, Lowry, the Santa Fe district and Five Points.

On Thursdays, the public is invited to a neighborhood venue (the first is at the Berkeley Community United Church of Christ, at 50th and Meade) to hear a sequence of personal stories about the lives and experiences of their neighbors – six storytellers will speak, followed by an open talkback where other stories can be shared by audience members. At these events, visual artists, playwrights, choreographers, monologuists, poets, photographers and performers will mingle, watch and listen, and then go away for two days to create and develop a new work that was inspired by Thursday’s stories.

On Sunday, from 5 until 7 p.m., the artists and performers will reconvene with the work they’ve created. The public is invited back, to share a glass of lemonade and take in the stories, now re-envisioned as artistic reflections of the community: spoken word, music, dance, sidewalk art, sculpture, theatre. A facilitated dialogue will follow (Doors will open at 4:00 for a pre-show reception).
