The Annual Fitchburg Autumn Festival is the premier fall festival in central New England featuring the Annual Forge-In Blacksmith Competition, the Riverfront Antiques Show & Sale, and The Great Pumpkin Carve.

The Forge-In is an unusual and fascinating event where artisans in the metalworking industry demonstrate their skills in a "heated" competition throughout the day. Panels forged by entrants will be on display and will be permanently affixed to the Park's archway. Iron goods will be available for purchase at the Iron House, run by the Friends of Riverfront Park. Cash prizes are awarded to blacksmiths for various categories.

The Riverfront Antiques Show & Sale is the perfect compliment to the Forge-In. Dealers will be showing and selling their fine antique wares throughout the day. An appraiser will be on hand to let people know whether or not their Aunt Ellie's ugly vase is worth a fortune or worth a buck!

The Great Pumpkin Carve will be a wonder to behold after dark as all entered pumpkins are lit and displayed along the Nashua River wall for judging. Two first prizes of $100 each in two categories will be awarded, as well as second ($50) and third ($25). Bring a carved pumpkin with you that day, or pick a pumpkin, pull up a chair and carve away to your heart's delight. Pumpkins and tools will be available.

Live music from 60s Invasion will fill the air and plenty of seasonal foods will be available to make the day complete. There will be activities for children and a chance auction of local and/or related items.

The air should be crisp, the fires hot, the clang of the anvil and hammer invigorating, the smell of apples tempting and the competition fierce. Those lucky enough to witness this rare art form will remember their experience for years to come and will walk away with an appreciation for the spectacular talents of these skilled craftsmen and women.
