"The Gift" to Air on More than 70 Radio Stations Nationwide

Fisher House Foundation has produced a Holiday radio show entitled "The Gift" that will air on major market stations across the country between December 24 and 26 (check local listings), featuring interviews with wounded warriors Matt Zajac, Tammy Duckworth and Dale Beatty; the mother of an injured service member, Becky Ziegel; and a father who lost his son in combat, Robert Stanton. The stories - equally heartbreaking and inspiring - are vehicles to a greater understanding of the sacrifices our military and their families make every day, so that our nation may be home, safe and with their own families during the holidays.

"Just one percent of Americans serve in the military, protecting and safe guarding a population that does not fully appreciate the depth of sacrifice these people make," said Ken Fisher, Chairman & CEO of Fisher House Foundation. "These people are true heroes. We want to let the world know just how much they do for us every day, and ensure that if they have a need, that it is met."

"The Gift" is a three-hour show was created by Fisher House Foundation specifically for airing during the holiday season.

The broadcast will also feature interviews with Fisher House Chairman & CEO Ken Fisher and Fisher House Board members General Richard Myers and Montel Williams.

"The Gift" will air on WABC/New York in December, along with other markets.

Fisher House Foundation is best known for the network of comfort homes built on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers. The Fisher Houses are 5,000 to 16,800 square-foot homes, donated to the military and Department of Veterans Affairs, where families can stay while a loved one is receiving treatment. Since inception, the program has saved military and veteran families an estimated $182 million in out of pocket costs for lodging and transportation.

Fisher House Foundation operates the Hero Miles Program, using donated frequent flyer miles to bring family members to the bedside of injured service members. To date, Hero Miles has provided over 26,000 airline tickets to our military and their families. The Foundation also manages a grant program that supports other military charities and scholarship funds for military children, spouses and children of fallen and disabled veterans.
