This lecture will focus on the 29th, 30th and 31st Black regiments of
Connecticut. Mustered in 1864, these two local companies from the 29th were the first infantry at the end of the war to enter Richmond, the confederate capital, and stand in the presence of Abraham Lincoln. Crowley will also give a background on the unit while concentrating on two Fairfield County heroes, Boston White from Stratford and Lafayette Williams from Bridgeport
