Come one come all to St. Louis’ most celebrated party of the year! Dance, sing and ring in 2008 at First Night® – Saint Louis, the annual visual and performing arts festival that celebrates the coming of the New Year, taking place Monday, December 31, 2007 in Grand Center.
Festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. with a musical procession including drums, bagpipes, kazoos and dancers with colorful ribbons leading to the Main Stage for the opening ceremony at 6 p.m. Grand Center’s streetscapes, parks, churches, theaters and performance centers will open their doors to more than 65 indoor and outdoor presentations and activities. Featured this year, are three performances of St. Louis: The Operetta, a unique theater experience created from both sound and image, created by the world-renown Squonk Opera, a first in St. Louis! Fireworks will light up the “Rhythm of the Night” with an early display at 9 p.m. and a Grand Finale at midnight.
With the purchase of an admission button, revelers gain access to all that First Night® – Saint Louis has to offer. Buttons are $8 for adults and $4 for children 6-12 and free to children 5 and under, if purchased in advance (beginning mid – November) at participating Starbucks and Borders. Buttons will also be sold at the event, $10 for adults and $5 for children. Plenty of parking will be available.
