First Night: A New Year's Eve Celebration of Arts, Culture & Community

This New Year’s Eve, the Downtown Tucson Partnership kicks off its inaugural First Night festival - a family-friendly and alcohol-free event in Downtown that celebrates our city’s multicultural heritage.
With six performance venues and more than 20 acts, there is an abundance of entertainment for everyone - including the kids! Special programming for little ones is scheduled at the beginning of the evening at all locations.
Leo Rich Theatre hosts a Hispanic Roots program – from folk songs and mariachi to Latin fusion and folkloric dance. The Scottish Rite Temple showcases some of Tucson’s finest acoustic, genre-spanning acts. Beowulf Alley Theatre features energetic jazz and blues. The Tucson Children’s Museum will amuse youngsters with magic, puppets and hands-on activities.
Continuous free entertainment takes place outdoors at La Placita Village and in the plaza outside of Leo Rich Theatre and does not require a ticket to participate.
Entry to all ticketed venues is based on a first come, first served basis – so be sure to map out your evening in advance!
Gather before midnight to welcome in 2009 at Leo Rich plaza. Experience a grand finale of sights and sounds and perhaps join in singing “Auld Lang Syne.”

Tickets for First Night are colorful event buttons that are to be worn during the festival. Each year to follow will feature a new design, instantly becoming a fun New Year’s Eve collectible.

Tickets are on sale at all Tucson locations of Bookmans and Food City and online at www.downtowntucson.com. Tickets purchased online will be available for pickup at will call at the Downtown Partnership office or at the festival.
