First Fridays Reception: Descent October 5, 2012

anne'sVisual Art Studio proudly announces the Opening Reception of Descent, Chris Semtner’s next solo show of new original paintings, Thursday October 4th from 6-8PM with a First Fridays reception October 5th from 6-9PM. His delicately rendered, mostly small-scale acrylic paintings on wood present a dark, mysterious, and dangerous world in which people are victims of their own fears and desires. His work has affinities with the surreal worlds of such writers as Kafka or Poe, but Semtner’s beautifully lyrical works simultaneously call to mind such disparate visual sources as Art Nouveau, Dutch genre painting, and ‘sixties horror movie posters. Descent runs until Friday October 26, 2012
