Waterfront to 700 Block of High Street First Friday is a stage for local galleries in Portsmouths Olde Towne and one of the citys most popular evening escapes. Held the first Friday of each month, Olde Towne Portsmouths thriving arts & antiques community opens its doors along High Street where crowds of casual browsers as well as serious buyers come to each festive event, with dozens of galleries, antique shops and specialty stores open, some host receptions and exhibition openings. First Friday is held along the seven blocks of High Street between Effingham Street and the Elizabeth River the first Friday of each month, rain or shine, year round. Most shops & galleries are open from 5 til 8 pm.. There is no admission fee for First Friday - participating galleries are open to the public. Sponsored by the Olde Towne Business Association.
