I've been to every 1st friday and im not sure what dst794 is talkin about but its a real upscale place and targeted for the grown and sexy! he must not know good comedy because i always leave wanting more.
If you look at the Comedy picture it's mixed with good people and everyone having a good time.If you come out to the 1'st Friday's Comedy Show you will have a great time, thanks for your support.
I would hope that you would respect my opinion in the same manner in which I would respect yours. We all have preferences and I was expressing my own. Just to clarify, since you chose to reference me and not just my opinion I actually do know good comedy. I have visited Charlie Goodnights (local) and the Improv (out of state) and had great experiences. In addition, in my opinion (again just me not speaking for anyone else) a club is not "upscale" when there is no wait staff, lack of appropriate seating, a host who is pretty clearly intoxicated and comedians who wonder around aimlessly after their set's hitting on the patrons. Please feel free to continue to support this event. I, however, will not.
Oh, and by the way cameralex I am in no way hating on what you are trying to do. I actually thought it was a great idea to have an event like this for the community. If I were running an event I would want honest opinions from my patrons. Instead of considering it "hating" maybe you could look at it as constructive criticism.
Well thanks for your constructive criticism, however i will not change anything that the people love so much each and every 1'st Friday ;-) cameralex@yahoo.com
I am at Tj's every first Friday, and I am so glad that the promoter has made this happen in Raleigh. The price is fair the Comedy is the same calibur as Charlie good nights (which charges $20 - $40). Along with good comedy, there is a great after party all for $10. If you ask me, the promoter doesn't charge enough. I know that every body is entitled to their opinion, but I guarantee that dst will be in the house on April 3rd, and he will be welcome :-)
Hello, denamordh thanks for your constructive note and your support...With the economy the way it is it's hard to be positive, that's when comedy and laughter comes in to play.So let's get together on April 3, and have a good time and leave the negative some place other than TJ'S night life.

Well DST794, I am a professional Comedian and I personnally take offence to what you said. I have been at Charlie Goodnights and if you know anything about clubs, it has not been Charlie Goodnights for 4 years. It is just a name. Another thing is, the night you were there ,I was also and the Comics were talking to other FEMALE comics. I see you only go to what you consider HIGH CLass Comedy spots. I have performed at these spots and more, ie The MGM Grand in Vegas, the wait staff is many but the tables are so close you are sitting together.TJ's has space and I agree, there should be a wait staff, but where else can you get to see Top Comics for $10 . PLEASE. I am glad you decided not to return, There is an Extra SEAT for someone who is not that critical. We cannot please everybody. It's only $10.
TJ's Comedy Night Club caters to the 30 & up group. My husband and I enjoy going there because the comedy is super hilarious and we love the environment (inside and outside). We try to go every 1st Friday, and very much look forward to the comedy shows and dancing afterwards. TJ's is a popular place and all I can say is get there early, because the place fills up FAST. I highly recommend TJ's if you're looking for entertainment and a good time.
It is written that laughter is good for the soul! Well when I want a good laugh, I check out 1st Friday Comedy @ TJ's. I am a person with very little sense of humor; so if a person can make me laugh, he or she has to be a good comedian. At 1st Friday, my experiences were thoroughly enjoyable and I found myself laughing almost the entire time...everytime. So if you've had a rough month and you need to laugh a little to sooth the soul; I encourage you to go to 1st Friday Comedy @ TJ's. You will find yourself laughing a lot!
I'm writing to express the amount of laughter I've had from the 1st Friday Comedy Show at TJ's. Myself and some sorority sisters attended the April 3,2009 show and we are still talking about how funny the comedians were. We have decided to attend another show and bring our significant others and making it a couples night out. We are glad this type of comedy setting has been made available as a social setting. And during this economy crunch we all want to go out have a good time at a reseaonable price. At $10.00 you can't beat that. That's a total steal compared to Charlie Goodnight and others. The crowd is adult and the comics are crazy funny. My stomach muscles are sore from laughing so hard. I would attend as many shows as hosted in the future and I would invite/recommend to others the location. Keep up the good work Smithy and TJ's.

This is wack! I went and not only were as the comedy horrible, but it was low class all around.
