First Friday is a business networking group which meets in Petersfield on the First Friday of every month.

This month's speaker is Nigel Atkinson, a businessman with considerable experience and amongst other roles, is also the Vice Lord-Lieutenant for Hampshire.

Nigel's talk will feature on the Office and Role of Lord Lieutenant and the Lieutenancy.

By way of background, Nigel is currently Chairman of Centurion Safety Products Limited, a leading manufacturer of head and respiratory protection equipment; a Non-Executive Director with the independent London family brewer, Fuller Smith & Turner plc; and Non-Exec Chairman of Premier Pub Estates Ltd.

Prior to that he was Chief Executive of the family brewer, George Gale & Co Ltd, a position he held for 15 years until its sale in December 2005.

With his experience of running a highly successful family business he has also joined The International Centre for Families in Business as a consultant.

This combined experience, coupled with both public and private sector service as a non-executive director, has given him the ability to bring a mix of strong support and skills to an executive team.

Nigel is a Trustee of HMS Warrior 1860, Honorary Colonel of the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Cadet Force and Vice Lord-Lieutenant for Hampshire.
