The First Company Governor’s Foot Guard Athletic Association will be holding its 80th Annual Dog Show and Obedience Trials on February 20th at the XL Center. This AKC sanctioned show is an All breed, Obedience, and Junior Showmanship (AB/O/JSHW) event. Approximately 1,100 dogs representing over 140 different breeds from as far away as Texas, Minnesota, California, and Canada are expected to compete in the show.
This is a great family event for everyone including those who want to learn more about dog breeds, serious dog enthusiasts, and people who simply love their four legged friends. Visitors to the show get to watch the competition as well as have the opportunity to go ‘backstage’ to meet the dogs and their handlers. There will also be vendors with unique dog products present at the show. Some of the proceeds of the show are used to fund scholarships awarded each year to pre-veterinary students at the University of Connecticut. The competition begins at 8:00 AM and will take place in the Exhibition Hall of the XL Center. Tickets available day of show.
