Fallen Border Patrol Agent Remembered

First Annual Brian Terry Foundation Benefit Dinner Receives National, Bipartisan Support

Tickets Now On Sale For Event Preceding Next Day Border Patrol Ceremony

At least for one night, political partisanship will be set aside as elected officials from both sides of the aisle will be attending a dinner to honor murdered U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry and the foundation established in his memory.

Friends and family of slain Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry recently started the Brian Terry Foundation to honor Brian’s memory and to create a living legacy in his name. To formally launch this effort, the Foundation will host its first annual Brian Terry Foundation benefit dinner on September 17th, 2012 in Tucson. The next day, the Bisbee, Arizona Border Patrol station will be named in Brian’s honor. Also at that event, Congressman Ron Barber will present Brian’s parents with the Congressional Badge of Bravery awarded to Brian posthumously.

Democratic Arizona Congressman Ron Barber and California Republican Congressman Darrell Issa will headline the September 17th event. Others lending their name or attending include Iowa Republican Senator Chuck Grassley; Arizona Republican Senators John McCain and Jon Kyl; Michigan Democratic Congressman John Dingell; Arizona Democratic Congressmen Raul Grijalva and Ed Pastor; Arizona Republican Congressmen Paul Gosar, David Schweikert and Ben Quayle ; Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett; Arizona State Treasurer Doug Ducey: and Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu.

Michael J. Fisher, Chief of the U.S. Border Patrol, will also attend and speak at the dinner. He will present the Terry Family with the Newton-Azrak Award which serves as the Border Patrol’s highest award for bravery.

Noted Tucson businessman and automobile dealer Jim Click’s company, Click Automotive, will be the night’s presenting sponsor. Other sponsors as of this release include the Washington Times, Norma Zimdahl, CBIZ Benefits & Insurance Services Inc., Gallagher & Kennedy P.A. Law Offices, Kinerk Schmidt & Sethi, P.C.; and The Bruce and Jane Ash Philanthropic Fund

FOX investigative reporter William La Jeunesse will emcee the dinner. Before coming to FOX, La Jeunesse had a long history as an Arizona journalist having worked at two Phoenix television stations and the Arizona Republic.

The dinner will take place at the JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort and Spa in Tucson, AZ. It is open to the public and tickets can be purchased at the foundation’s website at http://honorbrianterry.com/events.

Brian Terry lost his life defending the U.S. border from members of a suspected drug cartel rip crew in December of 2010 near Rio Rico, AZ. Weapons found at the murder scene have been traced to the failed gun trafficking investigation known as Operation Fast and Furious conducted by the US Justice Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms. Thus far, the Attorney General has refused to release all of the documents on the operation requested by the Terry family and Congress.

Robert Heyer, Chairman of the Brian Terry Foundation and cousin to Brian Terry, said, “Whether one is liberal, conservative or a member of the media, I think everyone can agree that Brian’s legacy and his ultimate sacrifice should be honored. Our family is honored that individuals from across the political spectrum have agreed to attend the foundation’s benefit dinner. And we are grateful to Jim Click for helping out so generously and positively.”

The Brian Terry Foundation website www.honorbrianterry.com is collecting donations to raise funds for the families of fallen U.S. Border Patrol agents, to establish educational scholarships, and to raise public awareness of border security issues such as the flawed Fast and Furious investigation. The Terry family wants to make certain that any mistakes made by ATF and DOJ during this investigation are never repeated.
