The complete Series I of Kennedy’s 22 chromogenic Warhol’s Flowers debuts at Conrad Indianapolis in June and will be on display in the lobby through Summer 2012. At the time of this impromptu photo shoot in a field of black-eyed Susans in Queens, Warhol was preparing for his first solo exhibition of Flowers at the legendary Leo Castelli Gallery. With his newly completed, unstretched Flowers painting serving as a makeshift backdrop, this series of photographs conveys—in cinematic fashion—a side to Warhol rarely seen by the public: playful and unguarded.
