Forget an xmas party or a New Year's fete.

Any techno event is gift wrapped in brown paper meets an exploding champagne bottle without the hangover or the exchanges.
However, since Filter falls on the 28th in betwix the traditional holidays, we wanted to close out a banner year for techno in the San Francisco Bay Area with something extra special.
So when we heard Fanon Flowers had recently relocated to LA from Michigan to launch his Modularz project, we knew this was it. This is a performer recognized as part of Detroit's techno's third-wave who, after 15 years of techno-making, promises to bring the Detroit sound's past and future together.
For those who enjoy a more pure percussive sound with an urban soul, you won't want to miss Fanon's first San Francisco performance.

With a history of solid techno productions dating back to 1992 and a 2000 DEMF performance to his credit, Detroit native Fanon Flowers combines the funky, syncopated rhythms of techno with the soul of house music.

Performing a live PA during his first ever San Francisco performance at Anu, expect a future classic sound from one of Detroit's own.

About Fanon Flowers:

Shunning overdone melodies and neo-minimalism for a more pure, mechanical sound, Fanon Flowers' 2004 release "Slovakian nights" has entered into the canon of techno classics - with remixes by Exium and Loktibrada on Numb.

In 1996, Fanon Flowers appeared under his Mode Selector alias on the "Detroit: Beyond the Third Wave" Compilation. Released on Astralwerks, Flowers appeared alongside Detroit techno stalwarts such as Claude Young, Ectomorph, Sean Deason, and Anthony "Shake" Shakir.

That same year, Flowers started his own techno imprint, Mechanisms Industries, to showcase his unique and funky approach to techno. In 2000-2003, a sub-label project entitled Cetron (short for Creative Electronics) was launched as a platform for more percussion based material.

Mechanisms Industries has developed a large following for its creative interpretation of the techno sound. Famed techno DJs such as Jeff Mills, Surgeon, and Adam Beyer have been spotted playing releases from both labels.
