Film Screening and Panel Discussion: Faith Without Fear

Please join us for highlights from the upcoming PBS television series, “America at a Crossroads,” focusing on the theme “Faith Without Fear – the Trouble with Islam Today.” Following the film screening, local newscaster Amyre Makupson will lead a panel discussion featuring author and filmmaker Irshad Manji, who travels around the world as an ambassador for human rights. The discussion will center around the theological and political schisms within the Muslim world; efforts to make progressive changes, especially by women in Muslim societies; the state of Muslims in America and Europe; and how Muslims in the Middle East perceive the West.

“America at a Crossroads” will premiere on PBS stations nationwide, beginning April 15, 2007. For more information on the Film Screening and Discussion, please call (313) 833-4048 or e-mail friends@detroit.lib.mi.us

The screening of "America at a Crossroads" in Oklahoma City went really well. Great discussion and a sneak peek at these fascinating documentaries. If you can, be sure to attend this great event in Detroit.
