The hunger for power and wealth, and also pure madness, are said to have been the driving force behind the Spaniards' wish to conquer South America. Against all opponents, Aguirre proclaims his vision of Eldorado, which he will reign over as a powerful and glorious ruler. But even the last supporters from among his troop become victims of famine, illness and darts shot by Indians. Aguirre, lost on his raft surrounded by rats, dreams of founding a new dynasty together with his daughter, at Max Muller Bhavan.
