A Cantor's Tale
Charismatic cantor Jack Mendelson is the heir to the great Eastern European cantorial tradition that fermented in postwar Brooklyn. With missionary zeal, Mendelson teaches a new generation of hazanim—both men and women—the art of liturgical music. This film features commentary by Alan Dershowitz, Jackie Mason and tenor Neil Shicoff. Klezmatics composer Frank London provides the original score.
