Make Your Mark at the Fifth Annual Bearable Adventure Race
Make tracks to the City of Lakewood for this unique adventure race Sunday, September 13 at Bear Creek Lake Park, 15600 W. Morrison Road, The Fifth Annual Bearable Adventure Race puts the fun in adventure by requiring racers to be in teams of two and challenging them with some unusual events. Everyone from teams of adults and youth, men and women, families and corporate coworkers are welcome.
The Bearable Adventure Race energizes and rewards outdoor enthusiasts and their teammates through competition and camaraderie in a variety of outdoor events. The teams compete in four different disciplines: a lake crossing, mountain biking, trail running and basic orienteering. Teams can be combinations of male and female, all male, all female or, a mixture of adult and youth, and teams can compete in the corporate or parks and recreation category. The top three teams in each division will be recognized and are eligible for great prizes. Costumes are welcomed and encouraged because prizes for the best costumes will be awarded. Please be sure to join us at the Bearapalooza After Race Party, which includes barbecue and drinks provided by Engineers Without Borders.
While mom or dad experience The Bearable, kids can have their own adventure! REI and Lakewood Recreation invite children ages 5 - 10 to participate in FREE biking, running and water course events along with a special "mystery event." Everyone will receive a special award, as well as some great prizes from REI. The Kids Mini Adventure Race will begin at 9:30 a.m. Participants will need to bring their own bike helmet.
The race is a production of the City of Lakewood Recreation Division in partnership with Bear Creek Lake Park staff and Runners Roost Lakewood. Additional race sponsors include New Balance, REI, Rocky Mountain Sports Magazine, Skipix.com, MedExpress, Whole Foods Belmar, Great West, Courtyard by Marriott and Engineers Without Borders, USA.
