Fiesta is one of San Antonio's favorite annual celebrations. The first observance was a one-day event in 1891 to commemorate the Battle of San Jacinto-the decisive battle of the Texas Revolution. One hundred and eighteen years later, the event is an 11-day celebration of more than 100 city-wide events. The Institute of Texan cultures will celebrate this growth and evolution with 'Fiesta Remembrances: Photographs of Past Events,' an exhibit consisting of 46 color and black and white photographs from The Museum Library Photo Archives. The photos illustrate some of the Fiesta events from the 1890s to the early 1990s.
