World War II novelist David L. Robbins will speak at the James City County Library as part of Williamsburg Regional Library's Festival of the Reader.
In five of his previous novels, Richmond native David L. Robbins uses the historical backdrop of major battles like Kursk, Berlin, and the push through France to show the struggle of people to maintain their humanity though surrounded by death and destruction. A 1976 graduate of the College of William and Mary, Robbins' breakthrough book "War of the Rats" tells the story of a sniper duel in the ruins of Stalingrad. In his presentation at the James City County Library he will preview "The Assassins Gallery," due for release this summer, which revolves around Cuba and the Bay of Pigs.
This year's Williamsburg Regional Library Festival of the Reader, titled "Authors in April," features Virginia authors speaking about their writing, reading from their books and signing copies. Friends of Williamsburg Regional Library fund the festival. For more information, visit www.wrl.org/programs/festival
