The Williamsburg Regional Library's second annual Festival of the Reader begins Wednesday, April 5 at 7 p.m. with a visit by author Alesia (uh-LEE-suh) Holliday, whose books blend fun-filled mystery with a chick-lit twist. Holliday's reading is free of charge and will take place in the Williamsburg Library Theatre, 515 Scotland Street. For more information, visit www.wrl.org/programs/festival or call (757) 259-4050.
Virginia Beach author Alesia Holliday's first book was "E-mail To The Front," a touching and laugh-out-loud collection of correspondence with her overseas-deployed Navy husband. Her first novel, "American Idle," was a well-reviewed spoof of reality TV with a plot mix of romance, quirky characters and mystery. Her newest series of books feature December Vaughn, a blonde lawyer working in eccentric Florida. "Blondes Have More Felons" turns up the mystery element, while keeping the chick-lit humor.
This year's Williamsburg Regional Library Festival of the Reader, titled "Authors in April," features four Virginia authors speaking about their writing, reading from their books and signing copies. Future visits include historical romance author Laura Wittig on April 13, World War II novelist David Robbins on April 25 and Nikki Turner, the "princess of hip-hop fiction," on April 26.
