Chicago, Illinois

Haiti, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Guyana, Louisiana, Acadia, Québec…all of these areas share the same French heritage. Their languages spring from French and their cultural values are often close and hint at related identities. The memory of these common histories has survived in written legends and through the oral storytelling tradition, following a common invisible thread, from the bawdy poems of the French middle ages to the Cajun stories of today and yesteryear, not to mention the tales of Acadia. On this evening, four francophone storytellers will take turns blending stories of today and yesterday, bringing them to life before your eyes. This FREE program is hosted by the Canadian and French Consulate Generals in Chicago, the Quebec Government Office in Chicago and the Délégation générale de l’Alliance Française in the USA in partnership with the Centre de la Francophonie des Amériques Please note that this program will be conducted in French.
