Lago in Santa Monica presents a special Mother's Day Feast featuring Chef Roberto's favorite childhood dishes. The menu focuses on Mamma Cristina's typical home-cooked Italian cuisine paired with her son's contemporary touches to deliver traditional flavors with innovative presentations. The three- or four-course FESTA DELLA MAMMA, matched with wines (optional) and served in addition to Lago's lunch, brunch and dinner menus, is available on Sunday, May 10 and also at dinner from Saturday May 9 through Friday, May 15.
FESTA DELLA MAMMA begins with giant calamari stuffed with market bell pepper risotto and lemon-thyme foam paired with PROSECCO BRUT, ZONIN followed by housemade chicken lasagna layered with potatoes confit, pesto béchamel and tomato chips matched with SANGIOVESE, LA CARRAIA, '06. Main courses are grilled swordfish in tomato-parsley sauce with fried organic red cabbage and broccoli mornay "au gratin" paired with PINOT NOIR, MACMURRAY, '06, or roasted lamb top sirloin wrapped in pancetta in rosemary sauce with polenta and sautéed wild mushrooms paired with CABERNET, HESS ESTATE, '05.
The three-course version is $39.00 (choice of swordfish or lamb), the four-course menu is $54.00, and the wine tasting pairing is an additional $22 (not including tax or gratuity). Each selection is also available a la carte, for $14, $18, $24 and $23 respectively.
Available also is a special Mother's Day dessert: puff pastry strudel stuffed with organic Fiji apples, raisins and pinenuts, with vanilla sauce for $9.
