Not sure what to do with the kids during school vacation? Does your child want to sing like an American Idol or perform like a “High School Musical” star? Add some creative drama to their schedule. Hartford Children’s Theatre is offering a drama school session during February school vacation.
The vacation class — open to students in grades K through 8 — focuess on developing performance pieces inspired by award-winning children’s books that explore issues of tolerance. Classes are offered Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The February session will feature theater immersion using the following children’s books:
• Rap a Tap Tap: Here's Bojangles -Think of That, written and illustrated by Diane and Leo Dillon
• Freedom River by Doreen Rappaport, illustrated by Bryan Collier
• Brothers in Hope: The Story of the Lost Boys of Sudan, by Mary Williams, illustrated by R. Gregory Christie
All classes are held on Hartford Children’s Theatre’s campus, located across the street from the Mark Twain House on Farmington Avenue in Hartford.
Tuition is $325 per session with early drop-off and late pick-up available for a small fee. There is a non-refundable $15 registration fee per family.
