This literature course explores the new genres of writing generated by the fundamental anxiety that underpinned the 1950s during the Cold War. While new enemies were identified and new fears expressed, we'll discuss how contemporary Cold War writers dealt with the timeless conflict between conservative ways of thinking and the impulse for individual choice. All this against the backdrop of nuclear fallout, espionage, reds under the bed and rising Western consumerism. Details of this event may be subject to change.
