Farmer’s Markets in Houston? Yes, local farmers diligently bring organic produce to town every weekend so us city-dwellers can take advantage of all the life-giving nutrition their products have to offer. So, discard the unhealthy stress of the week and hop on your bike to embrace these hidden, healthy, gems right here in Houston. All you have to do is dust off your bike (or borrow one), meet up with your fellow BCO buddies and take a ride through the side streets, trails, and residential areas in the heart of Houston. This is a very relaxed and social ride; all levels of riders are welcome. We will start the morning off with coffee at Onion Creek and then cruise through two to three markets to shop for fresh produce, sauces, jams, and bread. This is a 12 to 15 mile ride that lasts about three hours so bring plenty of water and a backpack to carry your new found healthy items and goodies!

If you’d like to join us but don’t own a bike, West End Bicycles rents bikes for $25 per day at 713/861-2271 or www.westendbikes.com. You must pick up the bike the day before; they will not be renting at the ride itself. If you are a member of Bayou City Outdoors and do not have a bike, we can loan you a bike for the ride. But you MUST call the office one week in advance to arrange for the loaner bike.

Meet at Onion Creek, 3106 White Oak Dr, Houston, TX 77007. Please DO NOT park in the Onion Creek lot – there is parking on the surrounding streets but look out for ‘no parking’ signs. Meet at 8:00AM – leave at 8:30AM and explore until Noon. Free for Members and Non-Members alike. RSVP 713-524-3567 or http://www.BayouCityOutdoors.com
