Please join the Toledo Museum of Art in celebrating The Far East at Home: The Chinese Association of Greater Toledo Art Exhibition in the Community Gallery, January 23 - March 8, 2009. Contributing artists include over 30 amateur artists from China and Taiwan, as well as second-generation American-born Chinese residing in the Greater Toledo, Metro Detroit, and Ann Arbor areas. Artworks include Chinese calligraphy, Chinese painting, seals, digital photography, wax dyeing, oil painting, acrylic painting, water color, ceramics, and paper sculpture.

This special Chinese exhibit is made possible through tireless out-reach efforts of Mrs. Hewen Slak of ChinaCenter Toledo, assisted by recruitment efforts of local Chinese organizations (including Chinese Association of Greater Toledo, Michigan Taiwanese American Organization, and Michigan Chinese Women Association), and great supports of artists. In order to honor these talented Chinese artists in their debut exhibition, an opening reception will be held on Friday, January 23 from 6:30 - 8:30 pm. The reception will include free art activities for kids, a children’s dance performance and an adult vocal performance in full Chinese costume. Light refreshments will be served.
