A multicultural and international center for environmental education, stewardship, culture and maritime. This UDEC environmental education center is located on the Harlem River/ Bronx waterfront at the southern end of Roberto Clemente State Park, NYC Bridge Park and River Park Towers, just north of the historic High Bridge Aquaduct, in restoration. The center offers weekly family programming, interactive and interpretives exhibits which includes our Harlem River Estuarium, Reptarium and Aviary, and host of other interpretive and interactive exhibits that exemplifies the living nature of our urban estuary and its watershed, right here in our urban backyard. Related cultural, environmental as well as maritime programs and hands-on workshops are offered at our Micro Maritime Museum and Art and Environment Gallery. The gallery also host UDECs' annual Submerge Art and Environment Festival, now going on its 8th year. This unique festival showcases film, video, photography and other art media, procuded by local and international artists that raises public awareness and or celebrates our planet's most significant and most fragile natural resource "WATER". The center offers field trip opportunities for day school and after school programs, youth groups and senior programs, as well as a summer day camp program.
Parents and Children, as well as visitors can participate in fun and hands-on activities every Saturday at " Family Walk-in and Kids Day Series. Series runs in the Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer, with both indoor and outdoor activities. Eco-Cruise Series, Harlem River Monitor Project, GoFish, ( Spring/Summer) Sunset Movies on the Harlem River ( Summer), H2O Videos for Learning Library Screening Series ( Fall/Winter), Art& Crafts in Nature, Animal Habitat Discovery, and Guest Speaker Series ( All seasons). The center offers membership, volunteer and internship opportunities.
