Enjoy a day featuring multi-cultural arts and crafts, food, and
entertainment at the Seventh Annual Family Peace Festival scheduled for
Sunday, September 19, 2010 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Mary Munford
Elementary School, 211 Westmoreland Street in Richmond.
The Family Peace Festival will feature a diverse mix of food, exhibits and
activities and crafts for children including a display of art submitted by
local students for this year’s art contest. The theme was “What Does
Peace Look Like?” Winners in each age group will be announced at the
event.
There will also be performances by some of the region’s most popular
entertainers including the Latin Ballet of Virginia, the Ezibu Muntu
African Dance Troupe, Chief Red Hawk, and Hotel X.

The first Family Peace Festival was held in response to the attacks of
September 11, 2001. Its mission is to bring together youth and adults to
celebrate peace and diversity and to build community and understanding in
the Richmond area.

Sponsors of the event include the Richmond Peace Education Center, the
Interfaith Council of Greater Richmond, Unity of Richmond, the Islamic
Center of Virginia and the Bon Air United Methodist Church.
