The beloved family film “E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial” is, at its heart, a story of courage and hope. To benefit a Downers Grove family that needs plenty of both, the Tivoli Theatre is hosting a special screening of the Steven Spielberg classic on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 10AM.
The Tivoli Theatre is at 5021 Highland Ave. in downtown Downers Grove. Admission to the PG-rated film is $4, and all proceeds will benefit the local charity Noah’s Hope.
Fewer than 450 children in the U.S. have LINCL-Batten disease, a genetic disorder that is always terminal between the ages of 8 and 12. Tracy VanHoutan and Jennifer Farnaus VanHoutan are parents to two of them, seven-year-old Noah and six-year-old Laine. They founded Noah’s Hope to support research, raise funds, inform the community and find a cure for their children and others struggling with this terminal disease.
Rated number 24 on the American Film Institute’s 100 movies of all time, “E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial” (PG) is the heart-tugging story of a meek and alienated young boy who finds a stranded extra-terrestrial and also the courage to defy the authorities to help him return home. Spread the love in supporting this local family and enjoy this early Valentine’s Day screening!
