Founded in 1998 by Director Sheila McCray, Sasa African Dance Theater is a Miami-based African Drum and Dance ensemble which has been performing the music and dances of the African Diaspora throughout Florida since 1998. The name of the group originates from a Kiswahili word,"Sasa" which means "the time is now". The mission of Sasa is to perform, teach, and celebrate African Dance and Drum through live performance, workshops, and free weekly classes at the African Heritage Cultural Arts Center in Miami.
