Popular annual event for children of all ages. Children can explore life in the ancient Greece, Rome, Egypt and the Near East through numerous hands-on opportunities such as: making a mummy with dolls filled with candy organs, participating in an archaeological dig, crafting an Egyptian crown, designing their own Near Eastern stam seal, reproducing a clay lamp and more. Museum galleries will be open so children can see actual artifacts. Docents available to answer questions from children and accompanying adults. Both the museum and the KMA Shop, which offers inexpensive children's items related to the museum's collections, will be open that day from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The Kelsey Museum is located in the heart of the University of Michigan's campus (434 South State St.)right across South State St. from Angell Hall. Public parking available in nearby garages and adjacent side streets. The Kelsy houses a world-famous collection of more than 100,000 artifacts from the ancient civilizations of the Mediterranean and Near East. It's new 20,000-square-foot exhibit wing opened last November. More info: Call 734-647-4167
