Next Stage Denver presents Falsettos in the New Aurora Fox Studio Theater, 9900 E. Colfax from April 18 to May 10. Falsettos follows the exploits of Marvin, a neurotic 30-something bisexual Jewish man who wants to be with his lover Whizzer but does not want to lose the affections of his ex-wife and son. Because Marvin is a good family man, he decides that Whizzer should move into the family home and that they all live as one big happy family. The conflict sends everyone to Marvin’s shrink Mendel for a little handholding, and Trina finds the guy offering more than his professional services. Despite his best efforts to construct a perfect little world, Marvin ends up alone.
 
Two years later, Trina is married to Mendel; Marvin is reunited with his lover and it is the eve of his son Jason’s bar mitzvah. As Whizzer falls ill, family friend and lesbian doctor Charlotte shares her fears about a new insidious disease with her lover Cordelia, a ditsy caterer of nouvelle Bar Mitzvah cuisine. After all that Marvin has been through he stands to lose that which is most precious to him.
 
The cast includes Tyler Collins (Marvin), Janelle Christie (Trina), Adrian Ulm (Jason), Cameron Stevens (Whizzer), Brian Loveland (Mendel), Linda Suttle (Dr. Charlotte) and Marnie Ward as Cordelia
 
Originally, William Finn divided the story into three separate one-act musicals, each of which dealt with a separate period in Marvin's life: In Trousers (1987), March of the Falsettos (1981), and Falsettoland (1990). March of the Falsettos and Falsettoland were combined to become Falsettos and the show ran on Broadway in 1992 and ‘93, winning the 1992 Tony Awards for best book and musical score.
