Enjoy the best that fall has to offer at the 16th annual Fall for Fairfax KidsFest, Saturday, October 4th, from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m., at the Fairfax County Government Center! Northern Virginia’s largest family fall festival includes more than 100 interactive activities, exhibits and programs focusing on education, sport and fitness, the environment, public safety, and personal health.
Activities include: Inova Arcade of Health, Fall for Fairfax Trackless Train, Farmers Market, Pony Rides, Kids Climbing Wall, Hayrides, Scarecrow-Making, Petting Zoo, KidZone Inflatable Bounces and Slides, Model Trains, Pumpkin Decorating, the all new KidWay Midway and dozens of performances geared specifically to elementary school and toddler-aged children. Fall for Fairfax KidsFest is FREE to attend; select activities require a minimal charge.
All-Day Play passports, which include unlimited rides on the Kidway Midway and KidsZone attractions, will be sold online at www.fallforafairfax.com at discounted prices prior to the festival. Individual tickets and passports will also be sold onsite.
In addition to all of the fun fall activities, two festival stages will feature a line-up of popular children’s performers, including: Alex and the Kaleidoscope Band, Reptiles Alive!, and Spinny Johnson, as well as the music and dance of Fairfax’s diverse community. For a quick snack or a relaxing family meal, a variety of tasty dining options are available at the festival food court and fresh produce can be purchased from the Farmers Market. And don’t miss the Community Expo located on the South Wing of the Government Center building, which will highlight various non-profit organizations that serve Fairfax County.
Finally, rounding out the festival, the Fairfax County Solid Waste Management Program has partnered with Covanta Energy and Service-Source’s Keep It Green Program and is offering a Recycling Roadshow event during Fall for Fairfax KidsFest from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. in front of the Government Center building. While visiting the Fall for Fairfax KidsFest event, don’t forget to bring your old computers, peripheral devices, televisions and fluorescent bulbs to be recycled at NO COST! You may also bring any personal documents, up to 5 medium-sized boxes of paper, to shred at NO CHARGE.
Parking is plentiful at the Fairfax County Government Center and FREE shuttle bus service is provided from the Vienna Metro Station (Orange Line) to the festival grounds every hour beginning at 9:30a.m. For the safety and comfort of all guests, no pets are permitted at the festival.
