Each 2 1/2-hour outing offers a memorable "window" onto the diverse marine life of Long Island Sound. Participants inspect marine animals collected from various underwater habitats, including a trawl net's harvest of crabs, fish, lobsters, clams, sea stars, oysters and always a few surprises. As a seasonal bonus, the cruises offer a great vantage for viewing and photographing autumn's splendor of reds, yellows and oranges on the shoreline. Maritime Aquarium educators will explain why this flora "bursts" with color during fall and also discuss how the Sound's animal population changes as winter approaches.
