Join us for a walk on the sanctuary at a transitional time of year for birds. We'll look for late-migrating warblers, vireos, hawks, and waterfowl, lingering summer birds such as tanagers and grosbeaks, and early winter arrivals including white-throated sparrows and juncos. Learn to identify birds in their nonbreeding plumage. Why do some birds migrate while others overwinter? How does their behavior change as winter approaches? We'll discuss these questions and more as we explore the sanctuary's wetlands, fields, upland forest, and river edges in search of the many bird species attracted to these habitats. Beginning birders welcome! Registration is required. Call 978-887-9264 for details. See http://www.massaudubon.org/catalog/listing.php?program_code=961-IP10FA1 for more information.
