An award-winning and groundbreaking international artist will be giving a talk and a private view of his exhibition at The STUDIO@TPS on Monday, September 28.
Born in London in 1969, Faisal Abdu Allah works primarily in photography, screen print and installations. After studying at Central St Martins and the Royal College of Art, Abdu Allah made a living with his own barbershop whilst working as an artist and exhibiting internationally.
After graduating, he quickly established himself as an artist interested in confrontation and displacement. He has received several international art awards and was artist in residence at the Serpentine Gallery and Tate during 2007. He is a senior lecturer in Fine Art at the University of East London.
Central to the development of his art practice was his conversion to the Islamic faith in 1991.
Faisal was recently artist in residence at the coveted Tate Britain Gallery London with his piece Wall of Nahnouh (2008). He is also in collaboration with Christian Boltanski on a project called 14 years in Between this year.
Faisal was the recipient of the first prize at the Tallinn Print Triennial 2008. Faisal is a
senior lecturer at University of East London. He lives and maintains a studio in London.
The talk will be held in the Studio at 5pm, and the private view is at 6pm.
The Studio is at The Petersfield School, Cranford Road, Petersfield.
