A feast of varied music brings the season to a resounding close, including Mozart's Concerto for Flute and Harp (played by FSO principals Lawrence Ink and Kate Hazzard Rogers) and the lighthearted but sophisticated ballet suite The Incredible Flutist. The Fairfax Choral Society is featured in the powerful Gloria of Poulenc and - with the addition of the brilliant pianist Brian Ganz - the FSO presents Beethoven's thrilling Choral Fantasy, his first effort at the kind of all-embracing musical affirmation that he finally realized in the Ninth Symphony.
