The federal government has released legislation that will significantly change Canadian copyright law for the worse. Under the proposed law, user freedoms would be severely restricted with the no-exceptions legal protection of digtial locks, similar to the U.S. DMCA. These proposed changes could have consequences extending far beyond the illegal downloading of movies and music.
We must join together to let our government know that we don't support Bill C-61, and instead ask for fair copyright law that balances the interests of copyright owners with content users.
Please join us at this meetup to talk and learn about what you can do to voice your opposition to C-61 and/or demand fair copyright law.
