Opening on November 7th, in honor of Veteran’s Day, the Historical Society of Woodstock will present The Faces of World War II – Woodstockers Go to War. The exhibit will feature photographs of more than seventy Woodstockers who served during the War. The exhibit will run on Saturdays and Sundays, November 7, 8, 14 and 15 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 p.m. at the Historical Society building on Comeau Drive in Woodstock.
As part of this remembrance, Town Historian, Richard Heppner will be on hand on Saturday November 7th to read from and discuss his essay, Homeland Society, Woodstock during the first months of World War II. The reading will begin at 1:00 pm. In addition, the Historical Society will also host a “history harvest” that same day in an effort to collect additional photographs of those Woodstockers whose images are not part of the permanent World War II record as well as any other photographs relating to Woodstock history. During that time, Society members can scan your images and return the original to you. Copies of your images will then be added to the Society’s photographic archives.
