After surviving a horrific bus accident in Laos, New York-based photographer Alison Wright devoted her career to capturing the human spirit through her photographs and writing. She has traveled to the world’s remotest regions documenting endangered cultures, and contributes frequently to Nat Geo travel books. A two-time recipient of the Lowell Thomas Travel Journalism award, she also received the prestigious Dorothea Lange Award for work on child labor in Asia. In her new book, Face to Face: Portraits of the Human Spirit, Wright has made luminous and inspiring portraits of individuals from Tibet to the Caribbean.
