Influenced by doom metal and hardcore punk, Eyehategod is a sludge metal band with dark lyrics. They have been influenced by Melvins, Black Flag, Saint Vitus, Swans, Flipper and Black Sabbath. In 1988 Jimmy Bower and Joey LaCaze founded the band and Mike Williams and Brian Patton were soon on board. Bassist Gary Mader joined the group in 2005.
