ExtroBritannia's February event:
Anders Sandberg on "Memory enhancement: what, how and why"
"Memory is one of the most accessible neuropsychological functions: today we have a fairly detailed knowledge of how it works from the biochemical level to the behavioral level. Beside traditional mnemonics and external tools it is becoming increasingly possible to improve or modify memory through drugs and genetic modifications. I will give an overview of state of the art in memory technology, as well as discuss the current ethical and political issues surrounding these possibilities."
Saturday the 25th of February 2006 starting at 2pm at Conway Hall in Holborn, London.
We will be at the Penderel's Oak from 12.30 for lunch, and at Conway Hall (Artists? Room) at 2pm (see below for the addresses). We usually move back to the pub for drinks and conversation after the event (at some point between 4 and 5pm). If you are planning to show up at the pub and it is your first time at an ExtroBritannia event, look out for a copy of Kurzweil's "The Age of Spiritual Machines" at our table (picture: http://tinyurl.com/9khnx )
The event is free and everyone is welcome.
